Overview
'Marketing and poetry?' people say. 'What a weird mix!' But it makes sense. They're both about communication. Poets need to sell themselves and marketers, though they don't all like to admit it, have souls.
So the fact that I'm also a university lecturer is best left till a later stage in the acquaintance (unless I'm facing 60 undergraduates). But teaching, too, is all about communication and is all done with words. Well, mostly.
Reluctant to choose between these career paths, I developed both, at one stage even doing two masters' degrees at once. In that instance poetry won (and got me a distinction) - but I still have a soft spot for David Jobber.
