Thanks for visiting.

Welcome to the website of Julia Deakin, poet - sometimes flatteringly confused with Julia Deakin the actor.

Widely published, my poems have won many competitions - including the 2006 Northern Exposure Prize, the 2007 Poetry Business Pamphlet Competition, the Torriano 2011, The Lippfest 2011, the Yorkshire Open 2011, the Lightship International 2012, and many others.

I love giving readings, have read on Poetry Please, for community radio stations www.radiowildfire.com and www.chapelfm.co.uk, and at numerous festivals.

If you are looking for poems, poetry performance, workshop facilitation and poetic projects of all kinds, read on.

Julia Deakin's Eleven Wonders is powerful, assured, elegant. Her formal skill and inventiveness make this a rich and eclectic collection. Those who, like me, have admired her individual poems in the past, will be struck by their cumulative strength and range, and this book deserves to win her many new readers.

Gripping, compassionate, deeply thoughtful, Julia Deakin's poetry deserves reading and re-reading.
